Much biblical scholarship in the last half-century has emphasized the Bible’s diversity and discontinuity rather than seeking any possible strands of harmony and unity. Many scholars disown any other goal for biblical theology than acknowledging the Bible’s diversity, and they are unwilling to handle its wide spectrum of materials, genres and topics in a search for unity and a center to Scripture.
